About Smart City

Tumakuru Smart City Limited (hereinafter referred as “TSCL”) a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been incorporated under Company’s Act 2013 on 06/02/2017. It is one of the 07 Smart cities in Karnataka taken up under Smart City Mission. The Projects under the Smart City Proposal envisages to provide the Tumakuru citizens, a Safety enabled, Smart Transit, Better Transportation and Green Infrastructure.

The city has a station on the South Western railway, 43 m northwest from Bangalore, 130 km southeast from Chitradurga city and 130 km from Kolar City.

A Special Purpose Vehicle

The comprehensive development concept by Government of India as a Joint responsibility with State Governments has brought in the Smart City Vehicles. The conceptualization of the Smart City carries city to city and country to country depending on the level of development, willingness to change and reform, resources and aspirations of the city residents. The Tumakuru Smart City Limited was incorporated on 06/02/2017 as a Public Limited Company and the consultants were appointed on 22/04/2017. A 16 months old company with the targeted wards 4,5,14,15,16, 19, Part of 7, along with the Board of Directors headed by the Chairperson, working together to bring in the replicable model which will act as a lighthouse to other aspiring cities. As the mission of Tumakuru Smart City Limited says, “We aim at transforming Tumakuru from a mere edge city to the most preferred destination with the strong focus on enhanced connectivity, high quality of life, ecological integration and inclusive development”. During the challenges, a detailed survey of the wards and necessities was carried out based on which the ABD (Area Based Development) and Pan City, was categorized where the Area Based Development shall be in the identified wards as said earlier and Pan City shall be for the entire city. It's not a wonder that Tumakuru Smart City has its unique contribution to the betterment of the city in various layers.
